Don't they mean 'Fetus'?

BBC News reports that "Premature infants can defy the odds and achieve the same education and employment levels as those of normal birth weight, a study suggests."
They then go on to say that the children studied weigh 1.1 to 2.2 lbs.
Don't they mean to say "the fetuses studied" weigh 1.1 to 2.2 lbs.... and the study "found that 82% of low birth weight children graduated from high school, compared to 87% of normal birth weight." ?
After all, these "children" were born at about 24 - 28 weeks gestation. There are still saline and partial birth abortion being preformed on "fetuses" this age.
Yeah, I'm sure they didn't mean to call them "infants" or "children." After all, that might be insensitive to the privacy of the "mother."
